Uganda Premier League Champions, Express Football Club, have confirmed the departure of striker Frank Kalanda.

The Red Eagles, in a statement published on the club website, confirmed the gangly forward popularly known as Machete ran out of contract at the end of last month.

"Express FC has parted ways with forward Frank Kalanda “Machete” after two seasons at the club. Kalanda’s contract expired at the end of June 2021 and the club opted not to renew it," reads the statement.

Kalanda was a key player for Mukwano Gw'abangi during the 2019-20 season where he scored 13 league goals but fell out of favour last season and was relegated to the bench with Eric Kambale and George Ssenkaaba the preferred striking options for coach Wasswa Bbosa.

Kalanda was in his second stint at Wankulukuku. He had previously featured for clubs like URA FC, Soana FC (now Tooro United FC), and Rayon Sport in Rwanda.
