Ugandan long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has confirmed he will participate in the 2021 Lisbon Half Marathon EDP on November 21.

The 20 year old - 2020 Tokyo Olympics 10,000m silver medalist will be running his first half marathon this year after obliterating the field at the 2020 World Half Marathon Championships.

Kiplimo has only two weeks remaining to summon memories of the sensational triumph over an elite filed in 58:49 on 17 October 2020 in Gdynia.

The  2017 IAAF World Cross Country Junior champion will probably want to set a new Ugandan record even though he currently holds it.

Talking up the opportunity to race again, Kiplimo said he is "happy" to return to the fray after three months of no competition.

His last outings were in USA at the Prefontaine Classic. He ran 3000m and two miles at the event, finishing in 7:41.27 and 8:10.16 (4th) respectively.

"Super happy to come back to compete after 3 months. I will be in Lisbon to run in one of the fastest half marathon in the world. Thanks @meiamaratonadelisboa organizer to give me the chance to run there," he wrote on his social media.

"See you on 21 November, I will need your support during the race!"

In 2020, Kiplimo ran two half marathons. From Poland, he bettered his time by posting 57:37 (National Record) despite losing that Valencia edition to Kenyan Kibiwott Kandie in a world record time of 57:32.

Should the Ugandan win the honours in Portugal, he shall have claimed a podium finish in three straight major Half Marathons he has participated in.
