Express Football Club climbed to third on the league table thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win over Tooro United at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal.

Winger Martin Kizza scored a first-half brace that was enough for the Red Eagles to pick maximum points.

Kizza netted the opener in the 26th minute and doubled the advantage five minutes later from Deus Bukenya delivery to put the game beyond the reach of cellar dwellers.

The win means Express has won back-to-back games for the first time this season and advance to third in the standings with 26 points, three shy of leaders Vipers on 29.

“I am happy that we have managed to earn maximum points today. We had a good game but we didn’t entirely execute the game plan so we going to return back home and correct our mistakes because we want to end the first round with a win in our next game,” Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa said after the game.

Meanwhile, Tooro United's poor run on their return to topflight continues. It’s a 12th consecutive loss for the side rooted at bottom of the table with just four points.
