First son also Commander of Land Forces (UPDF) Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has revealed the Government of Uganda will refurbish Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
Muhoozi says the transformation will take place in a bid to improve sport in the country.
"I'm glad to announce on behalf of my father, H.E. @KagutaMuseveni, that the government of Uganda will completely refurbish Lugogo Indoor Stadium," he wrote on social media.
"The whole place will be refurbished."
Lugogo complex was opened in 2010 by President Yoweri Museveni, but later after some few games of basketball action, it was suspended after the turf developed patches.
The renovation was completed in August 2010 when a Dutch firm, Descol sports services, finished installing the multi- purpose floor that will be used by basketball, boxing, table tennis and volleyball.
The Lugogo Sports Complex is Uganda’s oldest and biggest indoor sports facility, which was constructed in 1954 and officially opened in 1962.
It is used for games like basketball, boxing, table tennis, badminton and volleyball.
