George Lutalo, the head coach of Crested Cranes, has named the travelling squad to Njeru ahead of the upcoming Cecafa Women Championship to be held early next month.

Foreign-based players that include goalkeepers Ruth Aturo, Vannessa Edith Karungi, Yudaya Nakayenze, Rita Kivumbi, and forward Fauzia Najjemba have been omitted.

It has been understood that the said players are still engaged with club duties and given that CECAFA is not recognized on the international FIFA calendar and thus most of these players are likely not to be released to attend the tournament unless their respective leagues have ended.

The team will be trimmed again to make the final number of 32 players for the tournament.

The Cecafa Women’s Championship will kick start on 1st June and run till 11th June at the Fufa Technical Center in Njeru.

Uganda IS in Group A alongside Rwanda, Burundi, and Djibouti.

This year’s tournament will see eight teams participate in the upcoming Cecafa Women’s Championship.

The tournament will be used to prepare for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations that will take place in July in Morocco.
