Makerere University (She Mak) were crowned champions of the 2021-22 FUFA Women Elite League after beating Asubo Gafford Ladies 6-0 in the final on Saturday.

In a match played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso, striker Sharon Namatovu netted a hat trick while experienced Winnie Babirye, Jemima Twesigye, and second-half substitute Rebecca Nakasato scored the other goals.

The hattrick heroine opened the scoring as early as the second minute before Babirye and Twesigye scored in succession to make it 3-0.

Namatovu then made it 4-0 in the 18th minute and completed her hat trick with a tap-in five minutes into the second half of the one-sided game.

Awards

Namatovu was named the Most Valuable Player of the Season while Wakiso Hill striker Slyvia Namiwanda was the league’s top scorer with 13 goals.

Makerere University's shot-stopper Zahara Nankya was named the best goalkeeper.

Wakiso Hill WFC won the fair play award.

She Mak will thus play in the top division of women's football in the country (Fufa Women Super League) next season replacing relegated Tooro.
