Former Uganda Cranes coach Jonathan Mckinstry has been appointed head coach of Kenya Premier League side Gor Mahia on a two-year contract.

Nation reports that the former Ugandan national team head coach will be unveiled by the club on Monday.

"We have settled on McKinstry due to his experience and performance in the teams he has coached. He is the right person to steer us for the next two seasons as we fight to reclaim our league title and win other accolades," the club Secretary-General Sam Ochola told Nation Sport.

"McKinstry has coached in Uganda, Rwanda and Sierra Leone and that shows you he has handled and nurtured great players," he added.

The 37-year-old was contracted by FUFA as Uganda Cranes coach and served for 18 months before leaving in November last year.

McKinstry recorded a 67% win rate from 18 games, including 12 wins, 3 draws, and only 3 defeats, representing the best 'win' and 'undefeated' record of any Uganda national team coach in over 15 years.
