Nemostars avenged last season's final loss to Orange Block Busters (OBB) by winning the first meeting of this season 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-22) on Saturday at the Old Kampala Arena.
Esau Esil who was handed a rare start by Andrew Okapis played a solid game for the rebuilding Nemostars.
Nemostars skipper George Aporu says the win is a morale booster for the side who was yet to win a game in straight sets this term season.
"We needed to win this game for us to gain more confidence. The boys now get more confident which has always been my motive.
"The new players have been working hard though struggled to fit in because of the pressure that comes with playing for a team of Nemo’s magnitude. We are not yet where we want to be, but it’s a step in the right direction," said Aporu.
In the other games played on Saturday, KAVC recorded a fourth win in as many games this season, beating Sky in straight sets. Tigers edged KCCA 3-2 in the closest game of the weekend.
Meanwhile, Sport-S men are back on the top of the standings after beating UCU Doves in straight sets to record their fourth successive win on Sunday.
"The preparation has been important to us and that’s where we perfect what we are doing now on the court.
"We are only executing what we have planned," says Sport-S coach Moses Mugisha.
