The FMU Champions Sprint on Boxing Day gathered over forty crews; including Kenya’s Hamza Anwar and Eric Bengi took part in the season finale at the Extreme Park in Busiika. 2019 National rally champion Yasin Nasser gave his newly acquired Ford Fiesta Rally2 it's first outing and posted the fastest time to claim victory. “We entered the Sprint race to further test our skills. Initially, the motive was not to compete as we are not yet comfortable with the Ford. “At one moment we thought it would be a tough drive when the rain came. I had not tested it yet on wet, and also not familiar with the wet settings. But luckily, it all worked to our favor,” said Yasin. The Moil Rally Team won the Motorcycle for winning the sprint as Mike Mukula Jr was equally on a mission in Busiika. In a Subaru Impreza N14, Mukula was neck on neck with Yasin but could only manage a second position. He was 11 seconds behind. The position helped him seal the 2022 Sprint Championship; coming as a consolation to the loss of the Clubman Rally Championship. Omar Mayanja finished third while Ronald Sebuguzi and Duncan Mubiru finished the top five in fourth and fifth respectively.May 13, 2024 | More Sports
