Uganda Premier League outfits Maroons Football Club and Gaddafi Football Club have been knocked out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. Gaddafi suffered a 1-0 defeat at Ssaza Grounds in Mityana to Regional League side Kiyinda Boys. Joseph Ssewali struck the winner five minutes from time to give the hosts a historical win. Meanwhile, at the Coffee Grounds in Bugolobi, Kisugu United produced another upset with a 2-1 win over Maroons. Rogers Tabule and Bob Matovu were on target for Kisugu with the winner arriving in added time. Of the three Uganda Premier League teams that were in action on Thursday, only Blacks Power advanced to the Round of 32 with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bukedea Central at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea. Another upset happened in the South Western district of Kizoro as Gorilla Highland eliminated Big League side Kataka following a 2-0 win at Mashaka Playground. Kisugu, Kyinga, Gorilla Highland, and Blacks Power have joined 11 other teams that already qualified for the Round of 32 of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup. Villa, Police, Vipers, BUL, Kitara, Ndejje University, Jinja North United, Admin, Junior Eagles, Pajule Lions, and Blue Stars are the other teams already in the Round of 32.
