FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has fined Denis Iguma for comments he made on social media concerning the integrity of the game in Uganda.
Iguma was weighing in on the game in the aftermath of KCCA FC's 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Vipers SC at St. Mary's Stadium in Kitende on May 8, 2023, just three days after the tie.
The KCCA player tweeted, "Feel great to play for the best team in Uganda. Strong team with great players. No bribing. No betting but real football," which caused him problems.
According to a statement released by FUFA, Iguma breached Article 31 of the FUFA Competitions Rules.
He is therefore fined UGX 500,000 for the use of "improper comments posted on his social media account insinuating match manipulation at clubs but without supporting facts."
The statement further read, "Iguma will not be allowed to feature for his club in any FUFA-organised Competition until the fine is cleared. The player has also been warned of his future conduct."
This is not the first time Iguma is paying a fine. In November last year, FUFA through its Competitions Disciplinary Panel slapped him with sanctions.
The development came from an incident that happened in the game between UPDF FC and KCCA FC played in Bombo where the defender was sent off for head-butting UPDF midfielder Ibrahim Magandazi. Whereas referee Rajab Bakasambe showed marching orders to Iguma, the Disciplinary panel found it necessary to add more sanctions. Iguma was punished to serve an extra game and also pay a fine of UGX 500,000. https://twitter.com/OfficialFUFA/status/1656590440504631299
