Jinja North United came from down to register a 1-1 draw against Booma FC in the FUFA Big League at the Masindi Stadium on Thursday evening.

The game got the 2023/24 Big League campaign underway and the party kicked off in Masindi.

After capitalizing from Jinja North's clumsy defending, Dickson Niwamanya placed the hosts in the driving seat with a delightful finish by the forward’s weak foot. 

The visitors made quick attacks in search of an immediate response but Booma’s goalkeeper Aslam Muhindo Mahango was quick off the line on two occasions.

Nicholas Luzige forced Booma's Muhindo into a reflex save as he witnessed his hard shot finger-tipped out for a corner kick.

In the 50th minute, Bronson Nsubuga leveled matters after he smashed a rebound after Salim Huud's effort was blocked by goalkeeper Muhindo.

Quick-footed forward Nsubuga had a chance to give Jinja North the lead but lost possession thanks to Dickson Mataama's challenge after remaining with a goalkeeper to beat.

In the next game, Booma FC will travel to St George Arena as they visit Kaaro Karungi on Sunday, October 1 while Jinja North will host Police FC at Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe on Saturday, September 30.
