Bright Stars shared spoils with SC Villa in a one-all stalemate in the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba Recreational Grounds, Wakiso on Tuesday.

The visitors kicked off with great pace and showed how badly they wanted to take the lead.

Umar Lutalo had a chance to give Villa the lead after being set up by Patrick Kakande but the midfielder’s effort went narrowly above the frame in the 12th minute.

Arnold Odong fouled Nelson Senkatuka in the dangerous area and the referee George Olemu awarded Bright Stars a penalty six minutes later.

Senkatuka made no mistake from the spot as he guided the ball into the back of the net from the 12-yard mark.

Hakim Kiwanuka squandered a great chance to level matters after he directed his shot wide in the 32nd minute.

Ivan Bogere levelled matters eight minutes later thanks to Kenneth Semakula’s assist from the right flank.

Two minutes after the restart, Villa had penalty claims after Kiwanuka was tripped in the box but the referee waved play on.

Bogere nearly doubled the visitors' lead after meeting Ronald Sekiganda’s well-weighed pass but the shot went narrowly wide.

In the 83rd minute, Sekiganda cleared Senkatuka’s effort off the line to keep Villa in the game.

Amidst the several chances created in the game, both sides walked away with only but just a point.

After the stalemate, Villa moved to the sixth position with 13 points while Bright Stars are ninth with 11 points after playing 10 games.
