Nine-man BUL held Express Football Club in a 1-1 draw in the Uganda Premier League game played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday.

Nicholas Mwerere gave BUL FC the lead before Isaac Wagoina levelled matters in the heated game.

Benon Tahomera and Walter Ochora were both sent off as BUL finished the game two men less.

The game kicked off 30 minutes late after the heavens opened earlier making the playing pitch soggy and unplayable.

The game began slowly as none of the two sides took early control of the game since the possession was equally shared in the middle park.

Nicholas Mweere’s direct powerful free-kick gave the visitors the lead in the 17th minute as the hosts went silent.

Before the end of the first stanza, Mweere fouled Emmanuel Wasswa in the dangerous area and referee Asadu Semere pointed at the spot.

Wagoina stepped up and converted from the spot to restore parity for the hosts.

The game got heated up in the second half as lanky referee Semere sent off two BUL players.

Tahomera was sent off after punching an Express player three minutes after the hour mark.

Eight minutes later, Ochora was also given the second yellow card after shirt-tagging Marvin Oshaba who was starting a counterattack.

BUL’s bench fiercely responded in opposition to the decision. Semere showed BUL assistant Simeon Masaba a red card for over-protesting.

Express failed to take advantage of having more bodies on the playground and the score kept 1-1 at full-time.

BUL are still on top of the log with 25 points while Express FC are seventh with 13 points after playing 10 games.
