Uganda Premier League – Results

  • Kitara 1-1 SC Villa

Kitara played to a one-all draw against SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League encounter played at Masindi Municipality Stadium on Friday evening.

Brian Aheebwa gave Kitara the lead before Patrick Kakande levelled matters in the 1-1 entertaining duel witnessed by a huge crowd.

Kakande was electric right from the start and his quickness t brought danger to Kitara’s backline before he was tripped by Solomon Okwalinga but Kenneth Semakula kicked the freekick way above the frame in the 24th minute.

Ten minutes later, Kakande eluded his marker before he curled the ball onto the target forcing Crispus Kusiima into a fine save as the visitors kept knocking.

Kitara found their first chance in the 43rd minute with Paul Mucureezi nodding Living Kabon’s delivery inches wide of the left goalpost.

Seven minutes into the second half, Charles Lwanga put the ball in the back of the net but the goal was cancelled due to a handball in the build-up.

Two minutes later, Ronald Ssekiganda was denied by the woodwork in yet another thrilling attack by the visitors.

Aheebwa fired the hosts ahead at the top of the hour. The forward latched on to a loose ball after Jude Ssemugabi’s hard effort was palmed into play by Villa goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige.

With six minutes to play, Kakande restored parity for the Jogoo with yet another exciting curler leaving Kusiima’s face helplessly covered in the jersey.

With the stalemate, Villa lies fourth on the log with 30 points while Kitara are second with 33 points after playing 17 games in the ongoing campaign.
