UPDF hosts League newbies Lugazi in the Uganda Premier League at Bombo Military Grounds on Thursday.

UPDF's campaign got underway with a one-all stalemate against Maroons in a game that witnessed late drama.

On the other hand, Lugazi faced a baptism of fire by Kitara as they were welcomed to the league with a 3-0 beating.

Lugazi head coach Sadiq Sempigi believes they have learnt from their mistakes and are now ready to fight for maximum points.

"We have learned from our 3-0 loss to Kitara FC and have been working tirelessly to refine our tactics, strengthen our defence, and enhance attack," Sempiji stated.

"This game is an opportunity for us to bounce back and showcase our best performance. We are determined to secure a positive result," he added.

In the same breath, Sempigi acknowledged Lugazi's strength, stating that they are a formidable side.

"UPDF is a formidable team, and playing at their home ground will be challenging. However, the good pitch conditions will allow our game to flow, and we're eager to capitalize on that."

This will be the first time the two Uganda Premier League sides are facing the history of UPL.
