Uganda Premier League | Result

  • Bright Stars 0-1 Mbarara City

Seri Arigumaho's exciting freekick was the difference as Mbarara City secured a 1-0 victory against Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday.

The heavens opened, and Kavumba Recreation Ground was soggy, though the visitors fought through to claim maximum points.

Midway through the game, the referee called both teams off the pitch since the heavy rain could not allow play to go on.

At the stroke of the first stanza, Arigumaho perfectly struck the freekick into the back of the net to continue his impressive form.

The visitors kept knocking on the door, but Innocent Wafula's strike bounced off the frame while Joseph Akandwanaho's effort went narrowly wide.

In response, Bright Stars came close through Ashraf Mulindi, Marvin Young man and Shafic Kimera, but none of the strikes could go past the goal line.

Bright Stars are now winless in six games, which creates debate on what could be wrong with the Kavumba-based side.

On the other hand, the victory lifted Mbarara City to the fourth position with eight points in six games.
