- Mbarara City 1-3 Vipers
Allan Okello once again staged an impressive show as Vipers secured a well-deserved 3-1 victory against Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Kakyeka Stadium.
Allan Okello (brace) and Yunus Sentamu were on target as Vipers secured maximum points away from home while Latif Ssenkubuge pulled back one for the hosts.
Vipers' victory ended Mbarara City's impressive 16-game unbeaten run since falling to NEC in matchday one of the previous league campaign.
Okello broke the deadlock at the stroke of the first stanza. Yusuf Mafabi kicked Sentamu in the chest and the referee pointed at the spot before Okello superbly dispatched it.
Okello doubled Vipers' lead seven minutes into the second round. The ball bounced off Mbarara City defender's hand and the centre referee was in the perfect place to award the visitors a penalty.
Two minutes later, Ssenkubuge pulled back one for the Ankole Lions. The forward planted the ball into the back of the net as Vipers' defence looked on.
Sentamu extended Vipers' lead in the 70th minute after being set up by Okello. It was a team effort that witnessed the forward's trio beat Mbarara City to great sync and chemistry.
Vipers take the log summit with 16 points while Mbarara City drops fifth with nine points.
Up next, Vipers will host KCCA on Saturday, November 9 while Mbarara City will travel to Bombo to lock horns with UPDF on Wednesday, November 6.
