UPDF registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Bombo Military Grounds on Wednesday.

Albert Mugisa and Benard Muwanga were on target as the host claimed maximum points on the day.

On the other hand, Henry Kitegenyi pulled one back for the visitors but it was not enough to get something positive out of the game.

The victory ensured that the Army side returned to winning ways after suffering a painful and emotional 5-0 loss to SC Villa.

For the Ankole Lions, it's now back-to-back losses after losing 3-1 to Vipers at Kakyeka Stadium in the previous fixture. The poor run distorts their five game streak without testing a loss.

The victory took UPDF to fourth position with 12 points while Mbarara City lie ninth with nine points after eight games.
