Kitara secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Royal Park, Buteme, on Tuesday.

Denis Omedi had a chance to give the hosts a lead after 14 seconds, but he put the ball inches off the frame.

David Ndihabwe forced goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige in a big save as he palmed away a powerful effort in the 31st minute.

Ronald Otti came close in the 42nd minute, but his bouncing header went narrowly above the frame in another wasted chance.

Kitara came back to the second half hungry to take an early lead, but SC Villa's backline stood tall and firm.

Jude Ssemugabi came close to finding the back of the net, but his powerful header could not get on the target.

At the death of the game, Nyanzi tapped home Rogers Mugisha's well-weighed delivery in front of the goal.

The victory takes Kitara to the seventh position with 21 points while SC Villa is eighth with 20 points after 15 games.
