Gazelles captain Jane Asinde was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the recently concluded FIBA Women's AfroBasket Zone V Qualifiers in Cairo, Egypt.

Asinde led the Gazelles to a well-deserved 74-63 victory against hosts Egypt in the final, securing Uganda’s place at the AfroBasket tournament.

She was named both the tournament’s MVP and Best Forward, becoming the only Ugandan player to make it to the awards podium.

Throughout the competition, Asinde recorded two double-doubles in five games, with her highest-scoring performance coming against South Sudan, where she tallied 28 points.

Joining Asinde on the podium were South Sudanese guard Delica Washington, Egyptian shooting guard Nadine Mohamed, Kenyan small forward Victoria Reynolds, and Egyptian center Reneem Elgedawy.

In other individual awards, Adut Bulgak was recognized as the Best Rebounder, Ines Nezerwa was named the Best Blocker, and Nadine Mohamed was awarded Best Shooter.
