Maroons secured a 1-0 victory against Lugazi in the Uganda Premier League at Najjembe on Friday.

Abel Etrude broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, putting Maroons ahead after a slow start from both sides.

He capitalized on a well-placed delivery from Muwada Mawejje to score emphatically.

The Prison Wardens nearly doubled their lead through Rogers Kiwanuka, but Lugazi goalkeeper Juma Mutebi produced a crucial save to keep his team in the game.

In the 82nd minute, Maroons custodian Simon Tamale made a vital block to deny Birungi Alvin from close range, preserving his side’s lead.

With this victory, Maroons climb to sixth place with 30 points, while Lugazi drop to 11th with 26 points after 21 games.
