Young Africans advanced into the CAF Confederation Cup final for the first time after edging Marumo Gallants in a two-legged semifinal clash. In a game that was played at Thohoyandou Stadium in South Africa, Young Africans registered a 2-1 victory against Marumo Gallants in a thrilling encounter. The victory meant the Tanzanian side had marked a double against the Gallants who were not sharp enough on the evening. Fiston Mayele and Kennedy Musonda were on target as Young Africans were writing history on the continental stage. While Ranga Chivaviro found the only consolation for the hosts. As the first stanza was coming to an end, Mayele gave Yanga the lead after cruising through the field of play before he unleashed a shot which was saved but the forward tapped home off a rebound. Musonda doubled the lead after being set up by Mayele creating an edge for Yanga. In the 91st minute, Chivaro pulled back one for the hosts to regain hope but it was too late to pick anything positive from the encounter. Yanga will play against USM Alger in the final of the tournament. To reach the finals, USM Alger best ASEC Mimosas 2-0 in the semifinals after playing to a goalless stalemate in the first leg.
