FUFA Women Super League champions Kampala Queens have announced Tonny Mawejje as their assistant coach.

The former Uganda Cranes midfield general will be part of the technical side of the Queens of Soccer after putting pen to paper for a one-year employment contract.

The development was revealed via the club’s social media handles on Monday at night.

“We are pleased to announce Tonny Mawejje as our new assistant coach for the next one year,” the post via the Twitter handle read.

After partying ways with former head coach Hamza Lutalo, the Queens have an assignment of feeling the top office of the club.

In the previous campaign, Lutalo was in charge of 39 games, among which he won 28, drew eight and lost only three. But also witnessed 55 goals.

The club has also made new signings in the past few days. Among the entrants is defender Samalie Nakacwa, forward Hadijah Nandago and midfielder Shakirah Nyinagahirwa.

The Queens of Soccer continue to prepare for the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers that will be held later on in the year within the boundaries of the country.

They will be searching to lift the zonal qualifiers trophy so that they earn a ticket into the CAF Women’s Champions League.
