Uganda U17 Women's Team the Teen Cranes shared spoils in a 1-1 draw in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Qualifiers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday evening.

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Bethany Louise Kaluya started in the heart of the backline alongside captain Katisi Natooro.

It was a cagey start to the game as both sides struggled to find viable scoring opportunities.

Kawempe Muslim forward Agnes Nabukenya found the back of the net from close range thus handing the hosts the lead in the 30th minute.

It was a well-built attack that was engineered by Shadia Nabirye and Esther Nangendo before they brought Nabukenya into the play to tap home.

Five minutes into the game, Ernestine Heutchou leveled masters for the visitors with a venomous shot from outside the box.

Six minutes past the hour mark, Uganda put to waste a glorious chance as Nabirye failed to guide home Sylivia Kabene’s darling delivery.

Uganda will take the fight to Yaounde as the two sides play the second half on Friday February 9.

The winner on aggregate in that game will play Zambia or Tanzania in the next round of the ongoing qualifiers.
