The 2024 Uganda Amateur Golf Open Championship entered round two on Thursday, August 29 and by the end of the day, Joseph Cwinyaai ascended to the top of the leaderboard.

Cwinyaai returned to the clubhouse with a course 2-over 73 to take his gross total to 145 after two rounds. He registered an eagle, 4 birdies, 6 pars and as many bogeys as well as a double bogey on hole Hole17.

Cwinyaai who played a 1-over 72 during the opening round yesterday started the second round with three straight birdies before bogeying the next two. He however made amends with an eagle on Hole 7 and was on track the rest of the way until the second last hole.

Second-placed Joseph Reagan Akena also played 73 to follow up a similar score from round one.

Abdul Kakeeto struggled on Day Two playing a 7-over 78 after a very good first round where he shot 1-under 70.

Fourth on the leaderboard is Michael Tumusiime who has been consistent in the opening two rounds with 74 in each round.

Going into the third round, Cwinyaai, Akena, Kakeeto and Tumusiime will play in the pressure group that tees off at 1:10 am.
