3rd Place Playoff | Match Summary

  • Uganda 71 all out
  • Rwanda 72/7
  • Rwanda won by 3 wickets

Uganda's Baby Victoria Pearls finished fourth at the U19 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifiers after losing the 3rd Place Playoff to hosts Rwanda by 3 wickets.

The Baby Victoria Pearls failed to put the semifinal loss to Zimbabwe behind them quickly enough to come up with a great performance to secure third place.

Patricia Timong (19) and Lorna Anyait (13) were the only players to get in double digits as Uganda was completely out of their element with the bat finishing on 71 all out.

In the run chase, Rwanda who Uganda had beaten in the group phase was solid in their response which made it difficult to defend the small total.

Mitchelle Ariago (2/7) was impressive in her first game of the tournament but that was not enough to get Uganda over the line as they finished in the same position as Botswana two years ago.

However, the experience is invaluable for the youngsters as they continue to develop on the international stage.
