Nairobi City Thunder ended City Oilers' dream to play in the Basketball Africa League for the third straight time.

Nairobi City Thunder secured a well-deserved 72-62 victory in the thrilling encounter at Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi on Monday evening.

The tournament hosts etched their names in the books of history as the first Kenyan side to qualify for the continental big stage.

Nairobi City Thunders opened a seven-point (18-11) lead at the of the opening quarter.

Despite City Oilers's fight, the Kenyan side slightly extended their lead to eight points (34-26) going into the long break.

City Oilers suffered a big blow in the third quarter as Titus Lual was lifted off the floor after turning his joint awkwardly.

Coming from the locker rooms, City Oilers tried to narrow down the gap but the hosts responded massively to keep a nine-point lead (54-45) at the end of the third quarter.

The home support ignited the Nairobi City Thunder as they clinched a 10-point victory at the end of the day.

Parrish Petty (23 points), Falando Jones (15 points) and Israel Oyoro Otobo (12 points) were the only City Oilers' players to score in double digits.

On the other hand, Nairobi City Thunder shared the points across as Ater Majok (17 points), Uche Iroegbu (16 points), Tylor Ongwae (12 points) and Garang Diing Akol (11 points) scored in double digits.

Nairobi City Thunder will lock horns with Kriol Star in the final of the East Division tournament.
