The Uganda Cubs emerged as CECAFA champions after defeating Tanzania 2-1 in a thrilling final held at the Hamza Stadium, Nakivubo, on Friday.
This victory further solidified Uganda’s dominance in regional football.
Tanzania took an early lead in the 11th minute through Abel Josiah Samson, whose powerful strike found the back of the net.
They nearly doubled their advantage two minutes later, but Josiah’s effort struck the post.
Uganda equalized in the 63rd minute when Arafat Nkoola capitalized on a well-constructed attack to bring the Cubs back into contention.
James Bogere sealed the win for Uganda with a brilliant finish, sending the crowd into jubilant celebrations.
In the third-place match, Somalia secured bronze by defeating South Sudan 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
