Former Soltilo Bright Stars and Express FC coach Baker Mbowa has been appointed as the new head coach of Mbale Heroes.

Mbowa replaces Asaph Mwebaze, who was officially sacked this week following a 28-day suspension from the club over allegations of indiscipline.

Mubarak Wamboya, who served as interim coach in the last two matches – both defeats to Maroons and NEC – will not continue in the interim role. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be part of Mbowa's coaching staff.

Mbowa's primary task is to guide Mbale Heroes out of the relegation zone, as the team currently sits at the bottom of the table with just nine points after the first round of the season.

His first challenge as head coach will come in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where Mbale Heroes will face Simba FC in the Round of 64 in Gayaza.

This appointment makes Mbowa the third coach to take charge of Mbale Heroes this season, following Richard Malinga, who started the campaign, and Asaph Mwebaze.
