Uganda Women's National Basketball Team has qualified for the FIBA Zove V Women's AfroBasket tournament.
In the game played Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall, the Gazelles registered a well-deserved 74-63 victory on Saturday evening.It was an end-to-end period as the Gazelles took a one-point (19-18) lead at the end of the first quarter.
The star of the game, Jane Asinde scored 10 points in the opening period to set the tune of the game.
Egypt were limited to only 11 points in the second quarter as they opened an 11-point lead (40-29) before the long break.
Uganda's zonal defensive set-up gave Egypt a hard time penetrating the paint as Jamila Nansikombi led from the front with seven points in the second quarter.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Gazelles extended the lead to 16 points (61-45) at the end of the third period.
Despite Egypt's fight in the final period, the Gazelles kept in the game and secured the well-deserved win against the hosts.
Uganda's scoreboard was led by Jane Asinde with a double-double after dropping 19 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
On the other hand, Raneem Elgedawy (19 pounts), Reem Mousa (13 points) and Farida Albdelnabi (11 points) led Egypt's scoring in double digits.
