Uganda registered a 7-0 well deserved victory against Burundi in the CECAFA Women’s U-18 Championship at Azam Complex in Tanzania on Tuesday.

Uganda struggled to beat Ethiopia in the championship opener, they later put three past Zanzibar before obliterating Burundi.

Agnes Nabukenya opened the floodgates in the fifth minute to put Uganda in the driving seat.

In the 32nd minute, Kamiyat Naigaga doubled the lead rewarding Ayub Khalifa’s troops that were in full control of the game.

In the 46th minute, Naigaga completed a personal brace hence setting the much-needed pace after the recess.

Eight minutes into the second stanza, Uganda’s skipper Phionah Nabulime scored the fourth to stamp the team’s confidence going forward.

Seven minutes later, second-half substitute Allen Nassazi made it five before Shamsha Najjuma extended it to six a minute later.

In the 75th, Burundi was awarded a penalty but the team’s captain shot it wide of the frame thus wasting a chance to get a consolation.

In added time, Najjuma shot into an empty net to seal off the goal-scoring party.
