Vipers SC registered a 1-0 victory against Maroons SC in the FUFA Super Eight classification game at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

The Venoms kicked off with the right momentum making quick runs as Maroons started the game choosing to be on the receiving end.

In the 37th minute, Noel Nasasira remained with only a keeper to beat from close range but his effort was so weak to beat Vipers' goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza.

As the end of the first stanza was looming, Brazilian forward Giancarlo Rodriguez broke the deadlock through a powerful freekick that got the net shaking.

At the start of the second half, Mohamed Salem and Grant Matsiko replaced Ashraf Mandela and Giancarlo.

The first minutes after recess were so physical as Maroons geared up in search of a leveller.

Richard Matovu fouled Hadadi Kambungu a step away from the box but Tusubira's later freekick was far from desired.

With six minutes to end the game, Mukundane lost possession in the box but Darius Ojok's cutback was not met by anyone.

Salem and Abubaker Lawal had chances to widen the lead but failed to place the ball on target.

Vipers will wait for the winners between Wakiso Giants and Brights Stars to decide who finishes in the fifth position.

The victory comes after Neiva Leonard's troops fell to BUL in a 1-0 loss earlier on.

While Maroons also lost to SC Villa in the opening game of the continuing tournament.
