  • CAF Women Champions League
  • Yei Joint Stars 2-0 FAD FC

Yei Joint Stars picked their maiden victory in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifiers after falling in the opening clash.

Yei Joint Stars registered a 2-0 victory against FAD FC in the ongoing Zoanal Qualifiers at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday.

The game started at a slow pace as both sides struggled to find the right rhythm needed for the game that attracted low numbers.

It was a clash of wounded buffaloes since none of the sides had picked a point in their earlier outings on the green turf.

In the 13th minute, there was a mix-up in FAD’s backline before the goalkeeper Soubane Ahmed Omar threw the ball into her own net.

From there onwards, FAD tried to get back into the game but their fitness levels were so low they failed to run after the slowest of passes.

As the first stanza was looming, Yei Stars nearly extended the lead but FAD’s backline teamed up to lay a very strong block.

Just like it was in the first half, the game’s tempo grew in the last ten minutes of the game as FAD looked for a leveller while Yei Joint Stars were keeping their lead intact.

With a minute to the final whistle, Eunice Kilega found the back of the net thus doubling Yei Joint Stars’s lead and awarding them golden three points.

The victory takes them to three points levelled with Buja Queens and Kampala Queens who are at three points too.
