Uganda Cranes midfielder William Kizito Luwagga is excited to return to the fold after being out for more than two years.
Luwagga was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that played in the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
While speaking to FUFA media, he revealed that he is delighted to return to the team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
“It is always a pleasure to come back to the National Team. I’m always ready and working hard to represent my country. So I’m delighted to be here and try to help my country to do well,” Luwagga revealed.
"I need to be an example to the young players on the team. I have not played with most of them but this is an opportunity for me to share knowledge with them and also learn from them," he added.
"We have a good team and as players, we only have to step up and do what is required of us.”
Luwagga called upon the fans to back up the boys who are ready to give out everything for the badge.
"To the fans, I ask you to rally behind us and we promise you to do our best and make you proud,” he said.
Uganda Cranes are set to play Guinea on Friday, 17th November 2023 before locking horns with Somalia four days later.
Uganda Cranes are pitted in Group G alongside Somalia, Guinea, Algeria, Botswana and Mozambique.
