Uganda's U20 Women's side has been in fine form recently. Prior to travelling to Tanzania for a friendly, the side had won six of the seven matches played.

And on Thursday evening, Ayub Kiyingi's charges continued with the run, beating their Tanzania counterparts in the first friendly played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Foward Hadijah Nandago scored the only goal of the game in a closely contested affair.

Nandago was in the right place at the right time to tap home after Tanzania goalkeeper Janeth Shija had spilled a freekick from Samali Nakacwa.

The freekick resulted from Protasia Mbunda foul on Sumaya Komuntale on the left flank, earning the Tanzanian a booking.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday for another friendly.

The games are part of events to commemorate Tanzania’s 60 years of Independence.

Uganda is using the friendly games to prepare for the 2022 FIFA U20 Women World Cup Qualifiers return leg against South Africa scheduled for 17th December in Johannesburg.

Uganda holds a slim 1-0 advantage over South Africa. Coincidently, Nandago scores the goal at Kitende.
