The Victoria Pearls ended their 8 game losing streak with a much needed win over Nepal in the opener of the 2022 bilateral series at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Consy Aweko registered her first win as captain with a 12-run win against the hosts despite a tough start for Leona Babirye who was castled for a first-ball duck. 

Inform Janet Mbabazi registered a great 45 runs partnership with Kevin Awino and even though fell in quick succession, Uganda was already at 48 for 3 in the 12th over.

Franklin Najjumba and Rita Musamali stabilized Uganda's ship in the middle overs before Rita Nyangendo destroyed Nepal with 18 runs off 13 balls.

With 102 for the first innings, Nepal sought to make a good start in the chase and it indeed seemed to be going their way when the openers put on 20 runs in 4.2 overs.

Skipper Rubina Chhetry struggled while Indu Barma was stranded as wickets fell on the end. At one stage, Nepal for 49 for five and by the time Barma fell in the 19th over asking rate was too high for the home side.

In the bowling department, Uganda the whole set stood out Consy and Sarah Akiteng picking two wickets apiece.

Games resume tomorrow at 10:15am (EAT) as Uganda's Victoria Pearls seeks another win to stamp their supremacy over Nepal.
