The 2022 MTN Kampala Marathon edition gets underway this Sunday, 20th November at Kololo Independence Grounds. At least 25,000 people are expected to participate in this year’s marathon which shall be run under the theme; “Run for babies” as all the proceeds from the event shall go towards improving neonatal and maternal health services in four health facilities across Uganda, two of which are in Kampala. The beneficiary health facilities include Kisenyi and Kawaala health facilities in the suburbs of Kampala plus those in Kachumbala (Teso sub-region) and Kabong (Karamoja sub-region). There will be four categories of races that is to say; 5Km, 10Km, 21Km and 42Km. The flag-off times for the races will be; 42km - 6:45 AM 21km - 7:00 AM 5km - 7:10 AM 10km - 7:30 AM According to the organizing team, "there is also a warm-up at 6.30 AM." Participants who have registered are encouraged to be at the Kololo Independence grounds by 6:00 AM on Sunday, November 20th. There has been an extension as well for those who have not yet registered. Pick-up of kits will continue until Saturday 19th at midday.
