National Insurance Cooperation (NIC) managed to defend the East Africa Netball crown. In a game played at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Kenya, NIC edged the Uganda Champions 49-37 to own all bragging rights. Prisons settled for silver as NIC halted their chance of clinching a double. It was the second consecutive time, NIC was clinching the second consecutive region title after beating KCCA last year. NIC took the lead right away from the onset picking a 9-6 win in the first quarter and later went on to conclude the first half on top of the duel. The Prison Wardens tried to put up a fight but it was late to get ahead of the defending champions. To reach the semifinals, NIC went past Kenya’s Ulinzi to reach the duel of fighting for the prize while Prisons whitewashed Kenya Prisons in a 55-36 well-deserved win. The final was a chance for NIC to avenge Prisons who had won the home title by a small edge.
