Uganda has announced it's withdrawal from the inaugural World Mountain Running Nations Cup due to financial constraints.

Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) had earlier selected a national team of eight athletes (4 women/4 men) during the recent 2021 National Mountain Running Championships in Kapchorwa.

According to a statement released by UAF Public Secretary Namayo Mawerere, Uganda will not send a team this term despite dominating "the World Mountain Running Championships from 2008-2018."

The Pearl has claimed 6 gold medals, 5 silver, 6 bronze at the men’s individual level and 1 gold medal respectively in the women category between those years.

Meanwhile 4 team gold medals have been won from 2013 – 2018.
