The Uganda National Boxing Team, The Bombers, settled for two bronze medals at the Africa Boxing Championships held in Maputo, Mozambique.

Boxers Jonah Kyobe and Yusuf Nkobeza fell short in their semifinal bouts and hence settled for bronze.

Kyobe (Featherweight) lost his fight against Sogauque Armando Rugoberto of Mozambique to earn his first medal on the Bombers team.

In the Middleweight category, Nkobeza also had his pursuit for Gold cut short after being stopped by experienced Moroccan Gharroumi Driss.

Both Kyobe and Nkobeza will walk home with $2500 each for winning bronze medals.

Uganda entered a team of seven boxers at the African Championship and they will return home with smiling faces, at least, after winning two medals.

The Team: Tukamuhebwa Joshua (C), Isaac Zebra Ssenyange, Kibira Owen, Idris Mukiibi, Nkobeza Yusufu, Kyobe Jonah, and Teddy Nakimuli.
