Kampala Queens WFC completed the first round of the 2022-23 Fufa Women Super League unbeaten following a 1-0 win over Rines WFC on Sunday. A first-half goal from Margret Kunihira ensured that last season's runners-up maintained their perfect record this term. It was the ninth win in as many games for Kampala Queens and they moved to 27 points, eight points clear of second-placed Uganda Martyrs. It was the 6th loss of the season for school side Rines and they remain second from the bottom halfway through the season. Kunihira was played through by Shamirah Nalugya and the forward made no mistake, scoring the only goal of the game in the 8th minute. Nalugya and Elizabeth Nakigozi had chances to extend the lead but were denied. The league will take a two-month break and the second round will return in February next year. Kampala Queens will visit Asubo Gafford on 5th February while Rines will host Uganda Martyrs the same day at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium.
