Ivan Ahimbisibwe missed a penalty as Maroons held UPDF to a goalless draw in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Bombo Military Barracks. The result means UPDF’s poor run of results continues as they have now gone six matches without victory. Maroons who are yet to win on the road will be delighted with the result after conceding a penalty. and were only kept in the game by magnificent goalkeeping. Before the penalty, Ahimbisibwe, Rogers Adriko came close but it was not until the 28th minute that UPDF got the best opportunity to score. UPDF were awarded a penalty following Patrick Bayega’s foul on Farid Rashid, but Ahimbisibwe’s effort was saved by keeper Emmanuel Akol who was later named man of the match. At the other end, Solomon Walusimbi’s header was ruled out for offside. In the second half, Ahimbisibwe and Adriko were guilty of missing good chances for the hosts. A point moves UPDF one place to 12 with 6 points and they will visit Blacks Power in their next fixture next Tuesday while Maroons remain 11th with 9 points and they will host URA on the same day.
