Kyaggwe and Busiro Football teams secured the quarter final berths in the 2021 Masaza Cup at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Kyaggwe defeated Bugerere 4-2 thanks to Gerald Ogwetti (penalty), Jackson Ssemugabi, Denis Kalanzi and second half substitute Davis Toko scoring the goals for Kyaggwe.
Ezra Mugambe and Hudson Mbalire found the back of the net for Bugerere, the result meaning Busiro had progressed to the quarter finals even without kicking a ball.
“We are excited having qualified for the quarterfinals. It is a gradual process to make it to the semi-finals and finals. Therefore, the preparations must continue immediately,” Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, head coach at Kyaggwe told MTN Sports.
In the second game on Monday, Busiro upstaged islanders Buvuma 3-1. Ibrahim Kasenge, Ivan “Kanda” Agamile and Hakim Mutebi were on target for Busiro.
Brian Henry Katamba got the consolation for Buvuma during a game that Busiro goalkeeper also saved a first half penalty from Katamba.
With the points for both Busiro and Kyaggwe the same (7) as well as the goals scored for and against and the goal difference (3), Kyaggwe was regarded top of the standings on sporting fair play.
Busiro got a red card and as many as 7 yellow cards. Meanwhile, the tournament continues on Tuesday, 14th December 2021 with two matches in Butikiro group.
Bulemeezi face Kooki in the early kick off at 12 PM and Mawokota shall play Ssese at 3 PM.

Ugandan long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei has praised the support he received as his foundation organized their fourth annual Christmas run in Kapchorwa.
Cheptegei was present as young runners showcased their talent in a bid for prizes like scholastic materials and sanitary towels among others on Sunday.
3000m steeplechase 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Peruth Chemutai flagged off the first batch of runners – children, under 12, competing in a 3km race.
One of the winners was Rael Chekwemoi in the under 12 category who won scholastic materials and a water purifier.
Talking up the event, Cheptegei said; “What a day it was!! 04th annual @JoshChepFound kids Xmas run, we saw immense talent in the young boys and girls ready to become next champions in the sport.

Kataka remains the only unbeaten club in the 2021-2022 FUFA Big League after match 7 of the second tier division.
The Mbale based entity won their latest duel on Sunday, 12th December 2021, 2-0 over visiting Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.
Joel Baba Onziku and Markus Aka found the back of the net for Kataka which now has 14 points, two better than second placed Maroons.
Maroons overcame Kyetume 3-2 at the lake side Prisons stadium in Luzira as Fred Amaku scored twice for Maroons and Abraham Tusubira added the other for the 1968 and 1969 Uganda Premier League champions.
Amaku opened the scoring business on 34 minutes and netted the score from the penalty spot four minutes later.
Former Uganda U-17 star player Ezra Bida got the consolation on the stroke of half time with a well drilled penalty before former Maroons midfielder Felix Okot leveled the matters 2-all three minutes into the second half.
Tusubira secured maximum points for the Warders with 11 minutes to climax the game.
Ndejje University climbed to fourth on the log with 8 points following a 2-all draw with visiting Nyamityobora.
Vice Guild president elect Jimmy Nsaale Wasswa and Joseph Okello scored for the students’ side while the league top scorer Clinton Kamugisha (on 6 goals) grabbed a brace.
At the Kosovo playground in Luweero two, home side Luweero United attained their second victory of the season with a 2-0 win over visiting Kitara.
Two first half goals from Henry Musisi and Joel Kalumwa won the day for Luweero United who now have 7 points from 6 matches.
In West Nile, Calvary condemned Proline to a 2-1 loss on the road at the AbaBet Green Light Stadium in Arua city.

Curtains came down on the second edition of Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) Women’s Elite League on Sunday with Thunder crowned winners.
Thunder was bottom of the four-team table because of an inferior Net Run Rate (NRR) going into the final day of the tournament, but everything broke in their favour on Sunday.
The side captained by Janet Mbabazi had to win both their games against the Northern Knights on the final day at Lugogo while praying Titans and Aziz Damani Hurricanes split their games at the University Oval in Kyambogo.
The Thunder eased past the Knights winning the game by 4 wickets in the morning, and they proved too strong for their opponents in the afternoon game, winning it by 8 wickets.
Mbabazi had a solid captain’s knock on the day, blasting an unbeaten 52 off 43 balls in the morning and 39 off 43 balls in the afternoon.
Rising star Jimia Muhammed impressed with the bat and her Soroti Cricket Academy teammate Mildred Anyigo impressed with the ball and took home the MVP award.
The games at Kyambogo were split as Titans bounced back from the super-over defeat in the morning to beat Hurricanes by 31 runs in the afternoon.
Juliet Nalukenge scored her first professional hattrick on Sunday in a Cypriot First Division game as her side AMOK Chrysomilia overcame Pafos Geroskipou 3-2.
The Crested Cranes and Uganda U20 national team forward scored in the 45th, 69th, and 77th Minutes to help her side bag all three points.

Pafos Geroskipou got on the scoreboard first but Nalukenge took responsibility to ensure that her side clinch the win.
It was AMOK’s second win of the season in seven games played. They are seventh in the table with 6 points.
It should be noted that Nalukenge completed her move to Cyprus side Apollon Ladies FC, signing a two-year contract at the club in August before she was loaned out to AMOK Chrysomilia WFC who also compete in the Cyprus women’s topflight league (Cypriot First Division).
AMOK Chrysomilia WFC is a club based in Limassol just like Apollon Ladies which made it easy for the loan deal.

KCCA Football Club came from a goal down to beat struggling Police Football Club 3-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday.
Juma Balinya’s early penalty was cancelled out by goals from Davis Kasirye, Charles Lwanga, and Rogers Mato as the Kasasiro moved to 26 points, six clear of second-placed BUL FC.
Tonny Mawejje was fouled in the restricted area by Samson Kigozi and Balinya converted from the spot in the fifth minute.
Forward Kasirye who is in fine form drew the hosts level with a headed effort in the 17th minute off Kigozi’s well-delivered cross.
Lwanga then put the hosts in the lead eight minutes later with a close-range finish after Tom Ikara spilled Brian Majwega’s shot in his path.
KCCA sat back early in the second half and played on the counter as Police possessed the ball more.
The introduction of Herman Wasswa, Emmanuel Mugume, and Muwadda Mawejje breathed some new energy into the Cops but it was KCCA celebrating again after Mato beat the offside trap on the counter to slot home.

Uganda’s U20 Women’s side has been in fine form recently. Prior to travelling to Tanzania for a friendly, the side had won six of the seven matches played.
And on Thursday evening, Ayub Kiyingi’s charges continued with the run, beating their Tanzania counterparts in the first friendly played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Foward Hadijah Nandago scored the only goal of the game in a closely contested affair.
Nandago was in the right place at the right time to tap home after Tanzania goalkeeper Janeth Shija had spilled a freekick from Samali Nakacwa.
The freekick resulted from Protasia Mbunda foul on Sumaya Komuntale on the left flank, earning the Tanzanian a booking.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday for another friendly.
The games are part of events to commemorate Tanzania’s 60 years of Independence.
Uganda is using the friendly games to prepare for the 2022 FIFA U20 Women World Cup Qualifiers return leg against South Africa scheduled for 17th December in Johannesburg.
Uganda holds a slim 1-0 advantage over South Africa. Coincidently, Nandago scores the goal at Kitende.

Uganda Cranes select side beat Tanzania two-nil during a friendly match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Thursday night.
The match was organized as part of the events to celebrate Tanzania’s 60th independence anniversary.
After a goalless opening first half, the game was lit up by goals from Vipers youngster Ivan Asaba and Arua Hill defender Bright Vuni.
Asaba found the opener in the 72nd minute before the second from Vuni on the stroke of full time.

Uganda Cricket Association Development Manager Davis Turinawe has reiterated the importance of the second edition of the ladies’ Elite League that will bowl off from 10th -17th December.
Turinawe – part of the organizers – says the star players will form the core of the Victoria Pearls as they gear up for more engagements in 2022.
The 1st edition was held last year in tough Covid times. Only two teams; Aziz Damani Hurricanes and Challengers Blizzards took part.
The event will be played on a round robin format with the top side being crowned the champions. The matches that will be played at the Lugogo Cricket Oval and Kyambogo Cricket Oval.
“Basically, the Elite League is structured to have the better players in the previously concluded women’s league play against themselves,” Turinawe told the Cricket Federation website.
“The selectors picked out 52 of the top performers and drafted them into 4 teams accordingly.
“The selectors thought this is a step closer to selection of the women’s team that will be engaged in training for next year’s activities.
“The top performers after this league will form the core team that will train for senior team engagements that are scheduled from February through the year.”
