Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has revealed that goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza will be out for the next three months.

This is because Mudekereza will be given more time to heal from a broken finger that kept him out of action since the start of the UPL campaign.

The development was confirmed via the club’s official social handles on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

“Goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza has undergone detection and immobilization of his fractured left small finger sustained last season and will be out for three months,” the statement read.

Mudekereza suffered a finger injury last season, he decided to sit out as the team doctors expected him to return shortly but his absence from the team will be extended further.

His absence will not affect the team since their goalkeeping department is well-stocked with three more options.

Fabien Mutombora, Denis Kiggundu, and Jack Komakech are the options from which coach Leonard Neiva will have to choose who stands in between the sticks.

Komakech has been in goal for the first three league games making two clean sheets and conceding one goal.

“I am so happy that in the first leg, I scored two against Mozambique and we happened to win the game with a huge margin,” she added.

“However, we made many mistakes in that game, but am sure the coaches will help us rectify the shortcomings going forward.”

“We want to win the game on Friday in a better manner so that we get on to the next level comfortably,” she concluded.

Uganda is halfway into the next round, and the winner between the two sides will be playing the winner between Senegal and Benin.
