Uganda Premier League side KCCA has confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Umar Lutalo.

Lutalo joined the Kasasiro Boys on a six-month employment contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the campaign.

The transfer was brought to the public via the official club website on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

“Umar Lutalo has signed a deal with KCCA FC until the end of the 2024-25 season,” the statement partly reads.

Speaking about the transfer, Lutalo expressed excitement about joining the Kasasiro Boys.

“I feel so happy to sign for KCCA FC. I have come here to add to the rich history of the club and compete with my mates,” he said.

“The club has good players in my position, but I bring healthy competition to ensure that we can achieve something positive as a unit,” he added.

Kampala Queens registered a 1-0 victory against Uganda Martyrs in the FUFA Women Super League encounter on Sunday morning.

Peace Muduwa netted the lonely strike as Kampala Queens collected maximum points on the day.

Kampala Queens started on the front foot but was so wasteful in front of goal.

Muduwa finally broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with a simple touch into an empty net.

Kamiyat Naigaga came close to doubling the hosts lead but her effort bounced off the frame.

Kampala Queens extended their log lead with 28 points after 28 games played while Uganda Martyrs is ninth with 10 points.

FUFA Women Super League | Results

Makerere University was held by Kawempe Muslim in a goalless draw during the FUFA Women’s Super League on Saturday.

Both sides took the ball to each other but were not sharp enough in the final third of the pitch.

After the goalless draw, Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalifa said that the league is getting more competitive and the teams have greatly improved.

“The game has greatly improved. There is no weak team. So we need to work even harder,” the gaffer said.

“I have hope that we shall improve because that’s our target each time we go to the training ground,” he added.

According to Khalifa, Jovia Nakagolo and Mable Adong, Kawempe Muslim’s new signings had a great debut.

After picking a point, Kawempe Muslim lies second with 25 points while Makerere University is seventh with 14 points.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has officially completed the signing of midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman, marking his return to the club.

Youngman rejoins Vipers after leaving during the recent transfer window. The club confirmed his comeback on Friday, January 31, through an official statement on their website.

“Midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman has rejoined Vipers Sports Club, the six-time Uganda Premier League (UPL) champions,” the statement read in part.

During his first stint at the club, Youngman made 20 league appearances. As he returns, he will be eager to establish himself as a key figure in the team’s success.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Youngman shared his joy at being back at Kitende.

“My two years at Vipers Sports Club were a time of pure contentment for me, both on and off the pitch,” he said.

“I grew as a person and a player, developed a special relationship with the Vipers fans, and enjoyed amazing success. It was an exceptional period in my life. To have the opportunity to return here means so much.”

Vipers finished the first round of the season at the top of the league table, having collected 34 points from 15 matches.

Uganda Premier League side Lugazi has completed the signing of forward Jumah Lutakome from Paidha Black Angels.

Lutakome joins the top-tier side on a one-year employment contract. The announcement was made today Thursday, January 30, 2025.

“It is with great pride that we announce the signing of striker Lutakome from Paidha Black Angels,” the statement partly reads.

Lutakome is excited to represent a top-tier side and can’t wait to get started.

“It is a great opportunity for me to play in the Uganda Premier League. When I heard of the interest from Lugazi FC, I never thought twice. It has always been my dream to play for a big team,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get started, enjoy the journey and help my team in any way I can. The strong competition here has not scared me. I believe I can be the best player in my position, and with time, I will prove that to everyone,” he added.

He becomes Lugazi’s fifth signing of the mid-season transfer window ahead of the highly anticipated 2024/25 UPL second round.

Lugazi FC lies in 13th position with 14 points after 15 games of the UPL first round.

Uganda Premier League side Lugazi has signed defender Joseph Othieno on a three-year employment.

Othieno has joined the Leaders switching from Burundian Moso Sugar FC ahead of the UPL second round.

Othieno becomes the third signing of Lugazi following the arrival of Hussein Ssenoga and Shafiq Avemah.

“I was born and grew up in Lugazi I think it is the right time to come back home and pick up myself,” the club’s website quoted Othieno.

“I believe if one works hard, he achieves and I am here to exactly do that,” he added.

Othieno has had great growth in his football career after helping Buddo SS win the national championship in 2009 and captaining Buwekula to the 2012 Masaza Cup finals.

He has also played for Victoria University, Kira Young, UPDF FC, Ndejje University, Musongati FC and Buja City.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed new dates for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after a postponement.

The tournament, originally scheduled for February 2024, will now take place from Saturday, August 2, to Friday, August 30, 2025.

The delay was due to the late completion of preparations. CAF has yet to confirm the specific venues for the opening match and the final.

However, with several months remaining until August, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania have ample time to ensure a well-organized and vibrant tournament.

Meanwhile, Group C, which includes Uganda, Niger, and Guinea, still has two vacant slots yet to be filled.

2025 Heroes Cup | Semifinal Results

Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi scored on his debut as APR FC secured a 2-0 victory over AS Kigali in the semifinals of the 2025 Heroes Cup.

Omedi and Niyibizi Ramadhan found the net to give APR the bragging rights and a spot in the finals.

Despite intense pressure from APR, the first half ended in a goalless stalemate. However, the breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Omedi confidently converted a penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Substitute Niyibizi Ramadhan sealed the win with a stunning free-kick, curling the ball into the top corner and leaving the keeper helpless.

In the other semifinal, Police FC held Rayon Sports to a 1-1 draw before triumphing 3-1 in a penalty shootout to book their place in the final.

The stage is now set for the final, with APR FC taking on Police FC in a battle for the 2025 Heroes Cup.

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has shared his thoughts on the team’s group following the AFCON draw held in Morocco on Monday, January 27.

Uganda was placed in Group C alongside African football powerhouses Nigeria and Tunisia, as well as regional rivals Tanzania.

The draw has sparked widespread debate within the football community, with many describing it as a challenging group.

Despite the tough opponents, Coach Put remains optimistic about his team’s chances and is confident they will rise to the occasion.

“At this stage, there are no small teams, and I believe we are ready to take on the teams we’ve been drawn against,” Put stated.

With preparations underway, Coach Put and the Cranes are determined to make their mark in the upcoming continental tournament.

Uganda has discovered its opponents for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following the draw held in Morocco.

In a colorful ceremony, Uganda was placed in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and neighbors Tanzania.

Nigeria, a three-time AFCON champion (1980, 1994, and 2013), is the group favorite, having been drawn from Pot One.

Tunisia, the 2004 AFCON winners, will also pose a significant challenge, especially given Uganda’s struggles against North African teams in the past.

The clash against Tanzania promises to be a thrilling East African derby, bringing added excitement for Ugandan fans during the continental tournament.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Round of 16, with a third qualification spot available for the best third-placed teams.

The 2025 AFCON will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
