The joint-hosted events captivated the audience, showcasing remarkable talent and intense competition.

In a display of sheer determination, 36 riders from Mwenge North showcased their cycling prowess in the MTN-sponsored Tooro Kingdom Bicycle Race. Covering a challenging distance of approximately 30 kilometres from Katooke Town Council to Mabira and back, the riders navigated the route with finesse and returned unscathed.

“I’m glad MTN Uganda in coordination with the Tooro Kingdom has kept the custom of these races in a bid to appreciate our talents,” expressed Aaron Muhumuza, a resident of Katooke and a double winner in the sports bikes category.

Muhumuza, who failed to secure a top-five position in last year’s ordinary races, credited his decision to try his luck in the sports bikes category for his triumph.

The winners in the sports bicycles category included Ibrahim Kawooya, Mugisha Emmanuel, Aaron Muhumuza, Muwonge Muzamil, and Ahebwa Vincent Byoma. Meanwhile, the ordinary bikes category saw Amanyire Wilson, Alituha Rodger, Tukugize David, Tumusiime Leo, and Amanya Wilson emerge as victors.

These riders were rewarded with funds ranging from 500,000 to 100,000 Ugandan shillings, respectively, according to their respective categories.

Through the partnership between MTN Uganda and the Tooro Kingdom, these events stand as testaments to the power of sports in driving positive change and inspiring young individuals to reach their full potential.

Uganda Premier League side BUL FC and forward Ibrahim Orit have failed to agree on terms.

The two parties were close to agreeing on terms for a transfer but the difference in the valuation of sign-on fees halted the process.

The Jinja-based side reportedly tabled UGX 10 million as a sign-on fee for the former Vipers SC player but that was not enough to lure him to BUL FC.

BUL FC’s new tactician Abbey Kikomeko is a great fan of Orit and this has been proven in how he is pushing the club’s board to sign off the player.

However, Kikomeko also understands that the team will not stretch beyond their shoulders for a player but rather weigh on the other options.

A source close to the player said that the player expects close to UGX 20 million as a sign-on fee and is not ready to go far from that.

BUL FC’s other options in the same position are Gaddafi’s Brian Kalumba and Onduparaka’s James Jarieko who is also a student of Jinja Progressive, a school attached to the club.

The club has already announced the signing of Gerald Ogweti, Joel Mutakubwa and Joel Madondo in the ongoing transfer window.

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC has unveiled left-back Richard Matovu as their third signing.

Matovu joins Vipers SC on a two-year contract, the club confirmed via its official website.

The roving left-back joins Vipers SC after running down his contract with Arua Hills after the closure of the previous campaign.

Matovu is expected to spend the next two years at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende under the stewardship of Alex Isabirye.

“I hope I can steer the club to more glory,” Matovu was quoted by the club’s website.

“I am very excited and can’t wait to work with the group. I am happy the deal got done,” he added.

“I am here to be part of what the club wants to attain but as an individual, I want to show the fans my real potential and ensure the club is successful.”

Matovu has previously played for BUL FC and Kyetume FC before he moved to Arua Hill in the UPL.

While at Arua Hill, Matovu has played 47 games in two seasons after guiding the Kongolo to the fourth position with 44 points.

A brief about Matovu

BUL FC continues to do business and highly-rated forward Joel Madondo is the latest firing arm in their arsenal.

The forward reunited with gaffer Abbey Kikomeko with whom they did wonders at Busoga United (formerly known as Kirinya Jinja SS).

“BUL FC has completed the signing of Joel Madondo from Gaddafi FC,” the club confirmed.

“The forward has signed a one-year renewable contract with the Eastern Giants.”

Madondo joins the oil manufacturers after a short stint with their rivals across the city.

The goal poacher has struggled to regain his spark since that failed stint with Raja Casablanca in the Maghreb region.

The reunion with his former coach creates hope since Kikomeko has seen Madondo’s growth from school and can surely revamp his confidence.

Madondo becomes BUL’s third signing after the confirmation of striker Gerald Ogwet and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa in the ongoing transfer window.

KCCA FC’s new head coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil finally met his players on Monday, July 3, at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Clad in a white Nike t-shirt, blue khaki trousers and white sneakers Sergio walked into a room that had KCCA players seated waiting to meet their new gaffer.

Besides him was all jolly Eduardo Lazaro Ramon Leiva who will be working as the strength and conditioning coach.

And when Sergio had the attention in the room all to him, he started off by thanking the players for the hard work exhibited last season before he warned them not to expect favours from him.

“Thanks for the great hard work last season and I commend you for the fight you put up till the last day,” the Portuguese tactician began.

“But now that should be put behind so that we kick start a new journey all together as we seek to attain the long-awaited success,” he added.

Expect no favours but rather rewards

“Earning a starting position in my team should be a reward and not a favour. So that should be clear whoever plays best during the training session will automatically start in my team.

“I expect total commitment and unity in the team. We all have a role in the process and so we need to give our best so that we are all victors in the end.”

Shortly after the meeting, Sergio was seen further talking to Hassan Mubiru and Charles Lwanga as the trio looked to have bonded already.

Coach Eduardo also created a good rapport with the club members as he loudly sent his greetings in Cuban Spanish, ‘¿Cómo estás?’ to mean how are you?

Among the technical team, it’s only Moses Oloya that was seen as part of the meeting meaning Jackson Kaddu Magera (First Team Coach) and Saka Mpiima (Junior Team Coach) were absent.

Also, Luis Manuel Correiro Guerreiro (Assistant Head coach) is still out of the country attending to a family matter.

David Bagoole ‘Tong Po’ has been unveiled by Vipers SC and becomes their second signing in the ongoing transfer window.

The highly skilful midfielder joins the Kitende-based club on a two-year contract after switching from FUFA Big League side Jinja North United FC.

“The affable David Bagoole has finally completed his return to Vipers Sports Club,” the club confirmed via its official website.

“The immensely talented midfielder who is a fans’ favourite, has penned a two-year employment contract,” the post added.

The ‘prodigal son’ makes an emotional return to Vipers after leaving earlier than his contract read by then.

In August 2020, the midfielder penned a three-year contract but he only spent two years at St Mary’s Stadium before forcing his way out.

However, Bagoole revealed that he has learnt his lessons which clearly affirms the Vipers faithful that he has come to stay this time round.

“I have learnt my lessons. I will do everything I can to help the club achieve its goals,” he was quoted by Vipers website.

“I’m happy and excited to come back at Vipers SC,” he underlined.

The midfielder becomes Vipers’ second signing after Brazilian forward Giancarlo Rodriguez.

Reports indicate that midfielder David Bagoole is on his way to Vipers SC after a short spell at Big League side, Jinja North United.

Bagoole took his mixed emotions on paper as he underlined that Jinja North United will always be his family.

“I start a new chapter but Jinja North will always be family,” Bagoole noted through a document posted on his social media handles.

“I say goodbye to you with a warm heart. It’s been an amazing six months at the club and I leave with great memories full of love and support from the whole team,” he added.

“To the fans, thank you for the unending support through thick and thin and I beseech you to keep rallying behind the team.”

In the document, Bagoole praised the club president for having belief in him hence giving him a chance to play in his team.

Bagoole is expected at Kitende today as he joins his teammates to kickstart the pre-season preparations ahead of a busy campaign.

He has also previously played for Kyetume FC.

He was also part of the Uganda Cranes squad that was summoned for the Cranes at CHAN in Algeria.
