I am delighted to put pen to paper for this great club. This is one of the biggest clubs in the CECAFA region and it is every young player’s dream to play for a team like this. I want to give my all for this club and I want to win so many titles here. The club has welcomed me well and I know a number of players because we have played school and youth football together. This will help me settle in quickly and play.

Kampala Queens registered a convincing 2-0 win over She Corporate in a Fufa Women Super League game held at the IUIU Kabojja Grounds on Sunday.

Goals from Hassifa Nassuna and Resty Nanziri were enough as Hamza Lutalo-coached side bagged maximum points on the day that helped the Queens of Soccer extend their unbeaten run to 11 games in the league.

Kampala Queens have won 11 out of 11 and are still on top of the log with 33 points.

Nassuna broke the deadlock, scoring from a direct free kick which goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga fumbled with at the near post.

Nanziri and Margret Kunihira were wasteful as Kampala Queens could have scored more in the opening half.

And with eleven minutes to the end of regulation, Nanziri found herself in the right place at the right time to tap in a well-delivered cross from Asia Nakibuuka. Her goal was her 8th in the season and is the current league’s leading scorer.

The victory means Kampala Queens are now 14 points clear of second-placed Uganda Martyrs and is on the course of winning the title unbeaten.

The draws for the Uganda Cup Round of 32 have been conducted at FUFA House in Mengo with ties scheduled to be played on 11th -20th February 2023.

The headline fixture of the round is between Cup holders BUL FC and nine-time winners SC Villa.

BUL reached this stage after knocking out Sparks in a game played at Kirondo Playgrounds in Mukono. SC Villa, on the other hand, eliminated Kampala Regional League side Kireka United 6-0 at King’s Park in Bweyogerere.

Last year’s finalists Vipers will face Big League side Jinja North United while record winners Express will welcome Lugazi FC at Wankulukuku.

Rogers Mato’s goal earned KCCA Football Club all the points against Wakiso Giants as the Uganda Premier League Second Round got underway.

Mato appeared to come from an offside position to bundle home from close range at the stroke of halftime after Allan Okello had been brought down for the only goal of the game at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

The assistant referee raised his flag to indicate offside, but after consultations, referee Ali Sabila let the goal rightly stand.

As per the IFAB Laws of the Game 2022-23, Lawrence Bukenya played Rogers Mato onside.

The rule states that: “A defending player who leaves the field of play without the referee’s permission shall be considered to be on the goal line or touchline for the purposes of offside until the next stoppage in play or until the defending team has played the ball towards the halfway line and it is outside its penalty area.”

The victory means KCCA complete a league double over Wakiso Giants, having beaten the side 3-2 at Lugogo in the season opener.

The spotlight will be on  Kitara Football Club’s new head coach Sam Ssimbwa as FUFA Big League leaders start the second round on a high away to Northern Gateway.

Kitara head north to Gate Ground in Lira as they seek to keep their pursuit of Premier League football on track.

It will be interesting to see if Ssimbwa will hand new top guns at the club such as Paul Mucureezi, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Farouk Katongole and George Ssenkaba their debuts for the Royals.

Right-back Samuel Adibo and goalkeeper Micheal Kagiri are out with injuries while Jasper Aheebwa is serving a suspension. Farouk Yawe and Ronald Kayondo are available for the side that hardly wins on their travels.

“We have only managed to pick one victory away (Lugazi United) but we are piecing things together to make sure we improve our display on the road.

“We believe the training will also arouse the attitude and character we need from our players because you can not only win home games and expect to lift the league trophy, there must be a balance and it’s what we are working on,” Simbwa said as quoted by the club website.

Kitara is top of the table with 31 points from 15 matches while Northern Gateway is bottom of the log with 21 points.

The first-round meeting between KCCA Football Club and Wakiso Giants was a cracker of a game that saw five goals scored and could have been more.

The Purple Sharks will be hoping to avenge the first-round loss when they host the Kasasiro in the Second Round opener at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Despite losing his best player Ibrahim Kasule who left for professional football in Turkey, Wakiso Giants head coach John Luyinda remains positive.

“We were a little pleased with our performance in the first round. Kasule was one of our best players and although we shall miss him, we can’t use that as an excuse to stop performing.

“We have players within that we feel can replicate what he did in the youngsters Marvin Nyanzi, Marvin Mukiibi and Titus Ssematimba to give us results,” Luyinda said ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, KCCA FC’s head coach Morley Byekwaso is aware of the threat Wakiso poses with their brand of football and says he expects stiff resistance from the hosts.

“We expect to face stiff resistance, being hosted by a team in fourth is a tricky fixture.

“From the top to the bottom you can see that there is no big margin. The league has been tough, we need to go there knowing that we have to fight so much and play our best football to see that we come back victorious.

“We respect them but don’t fear them, they are a good side and you remember they played better football when we beat them here. We will not allow them [to] do things that will trouble us,” Byekwaso said.
