Vipers Sports Club has confirmed the signing of experienced forward Karim Ndugwa.

Ndugwa joins the Venoms on a two-year employment contract from BUL Football Club and is the second January signing after Martin Kizza.

“I am delighted and proud to sign for such a huge club,” Ndugwa said as quoted by the club website.

“I am looking forward to the start of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) second round and CAF Champions League. I hope we can achieve great things together.”

Ndugwa is expected to compete for places with the likes of Cromwell Rwothomio, Abubakar Lawal, Yunus Sentamu and Darcy Mbaka Kipoyi among others.

Ndugwa has also featured for local sides SC Villa, URA FC, Express FC, Wakiso Giants, Mbarara City FC and Victors FC as well as AFC Leopards of Kenya, Horseed of Somalia.

Vipers Sports Club has completed the signing of winger Martin Kizza.

Kizza joins on a two-year deal (which runs up to at least until 2025) from Express Football Club, a side he last played for last season.

The 25-year-old versatile forward becomes the Vipers first signing in the January transfer window.

“I am really, really happy to be here,” Kizza told Vipers Media.

“l feel privileged to be able to don this great shirt with its famous crest. This is a dream.”

“I am motivated to continue living my dream by giving my best on the pitch. I am honestly going to give my all in the Vipers shirt.

“Vipers have a rich history as a football club. I’ve played against the Venoms and I know what it feels like to be in the stadium with the fans rooting for them.”

While at Express, Kizza won the 2020-21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) title and the coveted 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

In the past, he has also played for KCCA FC where he started his senior career in 2014, and SC Villa where he spent nearly four years, from 2015 to 2019.

Outside the country, he featured for South African outfits Free State Stars in 2019 and Royal Eagles in 2020.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named the final squad that will feature at African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022.

Micho confirmed a final team of 23 players from the squad that is currently having its pre-tournament preparations in Tunisia.

From Tunisia, the team will connect to Annaba, Algeria on Wednesday where they will play their group games. Uganda is in Group B alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast.

Uganda has featured at CHAN on five occasions in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club has completed the signing of Joshua Lubwama Letti.

The towering midfielder joins the Tax collectors from Wakiso Giants on a three-year deal.

Lubwama expressed his delight after joining URA FC and understands the assignment.

“I am happy to be join URA FC, it’s a dream come true as this is one of the biggest clubs in the country,” Lubwama said as quoted by the club website.

“I am aware of the club’s position and one of my targets with the help of my teammates is to help the team get back to where they belong.”

He becomes the first signing for URA FC in the January transfer window and the side will benefit from his versatility as he can also play as a defender.

In the past, Lubwama featured for Luweero United, BUL FC and Ndejje University FC before joining Wakiso Giants.

He has also been part of the Uganda National Beach Soccer team (Sand Cranes) set up that qualified for back-to-back AFCON Beach Soccer. Lubwama plays for St. Lawrence University Beach Soccer Club in the National Beach Soccer League.

New FIFA Football Agent Regulations set to come into force have stipulated that there will be a cap on agent fees but also multiple-player representation will be prohibited.

These regulations were adopted by the FIFA Council in December 2022 following an extensive consultation process with all key international football stakeholders.

According to FIFA, “New rules will guarantee minimum professional and ethical standards for the occupation of football agent, including a mandatory licensing system.”

In a statement released by the football governing body, “the new FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) will come into force on Monday, 9 January 2023…”

However, FIFA says “there will be a transition period ahead of the obligation to only use licensed football agents and the cap on agent fees, which will happen on 1 October 2023.”

Defender Rashid Toha and striker Fred Amaku propelled West Nile past Lango Province in a 2-0 result during the FUFA Drum first-leg final at Greenlight Stadium.

The Arua Hill SC captain found the back of the net from a free kick in the opening half before Amaku won the game with a screamer late on.

The home side was dominant in the early stages of the game but Lango goalie Emmanuel Odongkara was up to the task, impressing between the uprights.

West Nile now gets one of the hands on the trophy and it remains theirs to lose after the first leg with a two-goal advantage before the return leg at Akibua Stadium in Lira.

Uganda Cranes midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has joined Austin FC II from MFK Vyskov on a season-long loan with a purchase option.

Byaruhanga makes the move with intentions of rising up the ranks to become a dependable and mainstay in the outfit that is a reserve team for Austin FC that competes in Major League Soccer.

The 21-year-old began his professional career with Vipers SC in his native Uganda, winning the FUFA Male Player of the Year award.

He was recognized as Uganda’s top men’s player – in 2021 before moving to Czech club MFK Vyskov in August 2022.

Byaruhanga has also made 11 appearances for Uganda Cranes, including six (6) in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Austin FC II train and operate alongside the Austin FC first team and academy teams out of St. David’s Performance Center.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club has confirmed the departure of forward Derrick Nsibambi.

Nsibambi leaves the Tax Collectors on mutual consent after agreeing to end his short stint with the club that lasted just three months.

The club confirmed that Nsibambi had joined Al-Bashaer Club in Oman.

“We would like to announce the departure of forward Derrick Nsibambi to Albashaer Club of Oman on mutual consent.

“We thank him for the time he has been with us and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” reads a statement from the club posted on their social media accounts.

Nsibambi, a former KCCA FC forward, joined URA at the end of September 2022 as a free agent and he had signed a one-year deal.

During his short spell at URA, the striker had scored only one goal, one that came against his former paymasters KCCA FC.

URA has reportedly signed Bruno Bunyaga as the replacement for Nsibambi ahead of the second round of the UPL.

Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi will be out of Motherwell’s clash against Hibernian at Fir Park Stadium in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.

Hibernian makes the trip with a point to prove off the back of an Edinburgh Derby defeat against Hearts while Motherwell has endured a frustrating 2022-23 campaign.

Motherwell picked up a valuable 1-1 draw away to Livingston in their last match, as Kevin van Veen cancelled out a Morgan Boyes opener to give his team a share of the spoils.

Bevis Mugabi will miss the encounter as he continues to deal with his knee problem and will not be available to play against Hibernian this weekend.

Draws dominated Matchday 13 of the Fufa Big League with leaders Kitara Football Club and Mbarara City Football Club held while NEC nicked victory.

Kitara were held to a 1-1 draw with Soroti in a FUFA Big League encounter at Soroti stadium.

Livewire striker Patrick Kaddu put Kitara in the lead but his early second half goal was not enough as Lawrence Olaboro equalised shortly after.

The Hoima based side however maintained the top of the table spot  as they move to 27 points from 13 games.

They are joint-top with NEC FC but have a but have a superior goal difference of 23, .

Kitara FC will return to action against Adjumani TC while Soroti City will be up against Luweero United.

NEC registered a 1-0 win against Lugazi United away from home with Ivan Kamoga scoring the all important goal of the game.

Injury hit Mbarara City were held to a 2-2 draw against Adjumani City FC at Paridi Stadium. Mbarara City now sit in third place with 26 points from 13 matches.

Mbarara City will host Kaaro Karungi on Matchday 14 whereas Adjumani TC FC will be up against leaders Kitara FC.
