Allan Kayiwa’s well-executed free kick helped hosts Express to their first win of the season defeating URA at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

Three minutes into the second half following a foul on forward Anwar Ntege by Benjamin Nyakoojo, Express capitalized to go ahead.

Ivan Mayanja, Allan Kayiwa, and Joseph Akandwanaho tired the defensive-minded URA before inflicting damage.

Arua Hill defeated KCCA 3-1 to compound more misery on coach Morley Byekwaso’s fortunes in this season’s Uganda Premier League.

Goals from Isaac Ogwang, Rashid Toha and Rashid Kawawa were enough to sink the Kasasiro at Barifa.

Ogwang, a new signing from SC Villa scored after twelve minutes before Toha doubled the lead two minutes after the break.

Kawawa sealed the victory with the host’s third goal before KCCA FC got a late consolation from Bright Vvuni own goal.

KCCA opened the campaign with a win over Wakiso Giants are now in 6th place after two matches with three points while Arua Hill take 5th place.

KCCA’s next game will beagainst title rivals Vipers on October 22 while Arua Hill will host Maroons on the same day.

Former Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey ‘Wazza’ Walusimbi has announced his retirement from football.

The left-back who started his career at SC Villa in the early 2000s revealed his decision in a statement on Wednesday, October 5.

“I have resolved to officially retire from professional football. I am extremely grateful for the experience, relationship, and exposure the game brought to me,” read part of the statement.

“My walk of life has been made possible by many other factors and people behind the scene so that I reach my self-actualization as a professional footballer.

“I confidently confirm that now I transit into football management and I am determined to approach it in the same way I did as a player.”

Walusimbi also turned out for Bunamwaya (now Vipers), Don Bosco in DR Congo, Gor Mahia (Kenya) Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa, and Vllaznia in Albania.

He retires as the most capped Uganda Cranes player with 105 caps and scored three goals having made his debut against Angola in 2010 and played at two Afcon finals in 2017 and 2019.

Denis Onyango has been voted as the best goalkeeper in the Caf Champions League Team of the decade [2010-2020].

The former Uganda Cranes skipper was voted by fans in a poll that ran on the Caf social media platforms.

Onyango won the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and garnered the most votes amongst the goalkeepers.

The 2016 African player of the year based on the continent is just one of the two East African players on the team alongside Tanzanian captain Mbwana Ally Samatta.

Samatta who played for DR Congo side TP Mazembe for more than five years also won the competition before he left for Europe featuring in Belgium, England, and Turkey.

CAF has appointed referees from Sudan to handle the game between Vipers SC and TP Mazembe due this Sunday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Uganda U20 midfielder Isma Mugulusi has joined the Greek club Makedonikos as confirmed by his agent Eugene Ssepuya.

Makedonikos FC is a team based in the Greek town of Naepoli and currently plays in the second division.

He put pen to paper on a two-year deal from SC Villa where he, unfortunately, didn’t play any game for the club.

He sustained a knee injury while playing for Busoga United FC and had him undergo an operation in Greece last year.

The deal comes as a lifeline for Mugulusi as he did not play any game for the whole of last season and only returned to football with the Uganda Cranes team that qualified for CHAN 2022 after eliminating Tanzania.

Defending champions Buddu, Bulemeezi, Busiro, and Ssingo are all through to the semi-finals of the 2022 Buganda Masaza Cup tournament.

Busiro eliminated record champions Gomba 5-1 on aggregate in the first quarterfinal. After winning the first leg at the Kabulasoke PTC playground, Busiro made the grade with a 3-0 home win.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth, Jimmy Kalema, and Joel Sserunjogi all scored in the 59th, 67th, and 81st minutes respectively.

2021 losing finalists Buwekula fell out 1-2 on aggregate to Bulemeezi. Bulemeezi won the first leg 1-0 with the return leg ending in a stalemate, 1-1.

The return leg match held in Mubende had Bulemeezi take the lead through Fazil Tumwine’s 38th-minute goal.

Buwekula found the equalizer through Michael Abura in the 55th minute. Meanwhile, Buddu qualified 1-0 on aggregate over three-time winners Mawokota.

The return leg in Buwama ended goalless and it was advantage Buddu who had won the opening leg 1-0 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.

10-man Ssingo played to a non-scoring draw with visiting Kyaggwe at the Mityana Ssaza ground. Ssingo’s captain Amuli Mukasa was red-carded in the 10th minute.

Ssingo qualified 1-0 on aggregate since they had won the first leg at the Nakisunga Ssaza playground.

Masaza Cup  Cast of All Winners:

Uganda U17 Football National Team opened their account for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers by defeating Burundi on Monday.

Uganda Cubs secured a 4-0 win in the game played at Abebe Bikila stadium, Addis Ababa.

Alex Yiga scored a brace while Arafat Nkoola and Richard Okello got a goal apiece. As early as the 12th minute, Yiga gave Uganda a deserved lead.

By halftime, Yiga had two goals, Nkoola having also scored in the 38th minute. Okello sealed the victory in the 56th minute.

The team will return to action on the 6th of October against South Sudan and victory will send them to the semifinals.

SC Villa vs. Gaddafi – Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku 2pm

Wasswa Bbosa feels the Uganda Premier League clash between his new bosses Gaddafi FC and former side SC Villa will be a close match.

The pair meet at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku and the gaffer is relishing that chance to compete against the side.

“As an individual, I want to compete and it’s the target for the team to be among the top four,” he said before talking about the Villa game.

“We are facing a good team with a lot of history and I believe it will be a game decided on finer margins.”

Former SC Villa players Ibrahim Kiyemba, Simon Sserunkuma, and Amir Kakomo among others will face their former paymasters.

The hosts under Nelly Magera and Ibrahim Kiirya will rely on new signings Ivan Bogere and Ivan Sserubiri as well as exciting Travis Mutyaba to unlock the visitors’ defense.

Uganda Martyrs High School 1-1 She Corporate

She Corporate FC search for their first win this season continued after yet another disappointing out on Saturday against Uganda Martyrs High School.

The Sharks once again threw away the lead to draw one all against the school side at St. Gerald’s Stadium.

Jackie Nakasi catapulted the visitors into the lead a few minutes into the second stanza but the hosts found the equalizer moments later from Latifah Nakasi.

Spencer Nakacwa opened the scores but the former immediately responded through Daphine Nalubowa against Makerere University.

Last weekend, they taken the lead against Kampala Queens through Favour Nambatya then conceded on the other end and eventually lost the game 2-1.

Victory means Uganda Martyrs move top of the log on seven points from three games while She Corporate on the other hand have just two points .
